What Are You Waiting For?

Have you ever caught yourself thinking, “Once things calm down, then I’ll finally take care of myself”? I know that feeling well. Life gets loud, and our own needs somehow keep sliding to the bottom of the list.

Henri Nouwen once said, “98% of our lives are spent waiting for something else to happen to us.” That line stays with me. It makes me wonder how many moments of healing, honesty, and connection we quietly postpone because we’re waiting for the “right time” that never quite arrives.

Here in Saskatoon, so many of us are juggling work, family, community, and the long winters that can weigh on our mood. When it comes to our mental health, waiting often means carrying the same weight for longer than we need to. The worries that keep us up at night, the grief that lingers, the stress that never really lets up—these things don’t usually resolve just because we wait. Our inner world deserves our attention, and it deserves it now, not someday.

Maybe you’ve been thinking about talking to someone, but you’re not sure where to start. Maybe you’ve told yourself, “It’s not bad enough yet,” or “Other people need help more than I do.” If that sounds familiar, I want you to know there is room for your story, exactly as it is. You don’t have to justify your pain for it to matter.

You also don’t need to have the perfect words or a clear plan. We can simply begin with whatever you’re carrying today and move slowly, at your pace. One honest conversation can be a meaningful step away from waiting and toward tending to what’s actually going on inside.

So… what are you waiting for? If something in this speaks to you and you’re here in Saskatoon or the surrounding area, you’re warmly invited to reach out. We can find the next step together.
